My poor monarch caterpillars

I saw a nasty red and yellow hornet lurking around my milkweed. Grrr! Next thing I know, the hornet has one of my caterpillars in its grasp! I know that I should let nature take its course, but I was so mad! I got a pair of shoes and smashed the hornet. I left the dead, smooshed carcass on the landscape timbers for the other hornets to see. It wasn't the best thing to do, but I was so upset. :-( Maybe those hornets will heed the warning? Don't mess with my monarch caterpillars!
